Length  of  wooden  'tube'  constituting  body  :  940 mm.  
External  diameter  of  wooden  body  :  47 mm.
Width  of  mahogany  strips  comprising  body  :  12 mm  - 13 mm.  
Diameter  of  objective  lens  :  26 mm.

The  telescope  was  presented  to  the  Burton  Constable  Foundation  by  the  Friends  of  Burton  Constable,  who had  purchased  it  from  J.  Hawley  Antiques  of  Beverley  in  November,  2000.   Prior  to  its acquisition  by  J.  Hawley  Antiques,  the  telescope  had  been  in  private  ownership  at  Burton  Constable  Hall. It  is presumed to  have  belonged  to  William  Constable  ( 1721 - 1791 ).
