Our new ‘Collections Online’ page is part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing the documentation of our collection at Burton Constable Hall. This section of the website serves as a starting point for researchers and enthusiasts looking to explore the remarkable history of our collection.
With the help of dedicated volunteers, we photographed over 500 objects from the museum. Volunteers received specialised training in object handling and photography to ensure that all images meet the standards required for accurate collections documentation.
Additionally, we commissioned experts to provide detailed descriptions of some of the most significant items in the museum's collection, enriching the information available.
The ‘Collections Online’ page features a selection of objects from William Constable’s (1721-1791) renowned Cabinet of Curiosities. We are committed to continually expanding this digital archive, allowing public access to the valuable information we have gathered.
This project was made possible through the generous support of Arts Council England and the Lottery Fund.
